As a CFP® professional, Derek is held to a fiduciary standard when providing financial advice, requiring him to place his clients' interests first.
Much of what distinguishes Derek's work is the depth of his tax background. Over the course of his career he has prepared thousands of individual tax returns and has developed particular expertise in ministerial finance. That experience shapes every client relationship, because he sees the decisions most people treat separately, investments, retirement, cash flow, and taxes, as parts of a single financial picture that move together.
Rather than manage a portfolio in isolation, Derek works to understand where a client stands today and what they hope to build over time. He begins with their goals, priorities, and circumstances, then develops strategies that account for how each decision affects the others. The result is guidance that is both technically grounded and genuinely tailored, designed to help clients move forward with clarity and confidence.
Derek earned his degree in Economics from Azusa Pacific University and is licensed in insurance, which allows him to weigh protection and risk alongside planning and investment strategy. Clients tend to value not only the breadth of his perspective but the continuity of the relationship, which he intends to sustain across the many decisions and transitions a financial life involves.

Outside of the office, Derek enjoys spending time with family and friends and taking advantage of life near the coast in Seal Beach.
